The H.E.L.P. Program was founded by Billy Shannon, to seek the low-income communities, including churches to assist as a vehicle to participate and receive perishable items from the Postal Food Drive.In 2010 as a Postal Clerk, the post office started assisting with local food drives. The H.E.L.P. Program was founded by Billy Shannon, to seek the low-income communities, including churches to assist as a vehicle to participate and receive perishable items from the Postal Food Drive.In 2010 as a Postal Clerk, the post office started assisting with local food drives. Seeing different organizations, churches, and food banks come to the post office benefiting from the donated nonperishable items the Postal Carriers brought back from their routes was inspiring. It gave me the ideal of starting The H.E.L.P. Program.
I wondered how many people in different communities wouldn’t be able to get to these food banks or churches outside of their own community because of transportation and other reasons. So, the HELP Program was started by me, Billy Shannon, to seek the low-income communities, including churches to assist as a vehicle to participate and receive perishable items from the Postal Food Drive.

The journey of the HELP Program and the vision from God enlighten me to start The H.E. L. P. Organization, Inc. which is a 501-3C non-profit organization that serves as an urgent resource in our community.
The HELP Program began from the USPS and has expanded greatly. We began providing lunch for Vacation Bible School during the summer at

The HELP Program began from the USPS and has expanded greatly. We began providing lunch for Vacation Bible School during the summer at different churches. The program soon ventured into providing Christmas gifts to families who lived in low-income housing complexes.

Our purpose for the H.E.L.P. is to become a team player in our community as well as amongst others through community outreach. The mission is to be an urgent resource organization available to assist people, families, community organizations, church organizations, youth outreach and collaborate with law enforcement to work towards a common goal in a time of need.
